Profile

Dr. Green has been a faculty member at Queensland University in Australia since 2015. In recent years, Dr. Green has consulted and presented on topics related to evidence-informed practice in stroke nursing, mixed methods research, and vascular cognitive impairment following stroke. She serves on numerous external committees including the Canadian Best Practices in Stroke Care Advisory Board and is surveyor for the Accreditation Canada Stroke Distinction Program. She is a program committee member for the Canadian Stroke Congress and the International Stroke Conference Nursing Symposium. She is currently chair of the National Stroke Nursing Council and is editor of the Canadian Journal of Neuroscience Nursing. Dr. Green was nominated for the 2012 University of Calgary Graduate Supervisory Excellence Award and received the 2012 Covenant Health Award for Research Excellence.

Her scholarly contributions occur primarily in a liaison/network capacity for faculty and staff with an interest in care of patients with neurological conditions. She has an interest in online learning strategies for adult learners and has taught in an online education environment. She also serves on graduate MN and PhD student committees as a committee member.

Research Interests

Theresa’s program of research seeks to improve care and outcomes of people living with and recoveringfromstroke events across the adult lifespan. Outcomes assessed in this program of research include: 1) health outcomes of adults, 2) health outcomes of family members and family caregivers, 3) efficiency and access to care and services (including use and costs of health services), and 5) preferences, satisfaction, and practices of patients, family, and healthcare providers in the delivery and receipt of health services for stroke. Her research program also include examination of the impact of nurses as members of the inter-professional stroke team, on implementation, process and outcome measures in stroke evidence-based practice guidelines.
