Bio

During her 25 years with the Faculty of Nursing at U of C, Dr McKiel engaged in a variety of roles including a primary clinical focus in Nursing of Children, Director of the Learning Resource Centre and Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs followed by Associate Dean, Academic, in Qatar.

She served on committees in the Calgary Health Region, Mount Royal College, Grant MacEwan College and Canadian Diabetes Association, was president of Western Region, Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing and vice-chair of the Nursing Education Program Approval Committee.

Her research interest focused most recently on the learning experiences of nursing students for whom English was not their first language.
