Welcome to Parenthood©

Becoming a parent is a life-changing event and may be stressful. Most prenatal programs leave parents feeling unprepared for the realities of early parenthood. The purpose of this project was to test a program called Welcome to Parenthood© (W2P©), designed to support first-time parents during their transition to parenthood through parenting-based education and a volunteer mentor who received training to help moms navigate community resources and supports.

Becoming a parent is a life-changing event and may be stressful, especially for families who are experiencing vulnerability associated with poverty, social isolation, mental illness, addictions, and/or family violence. The purpose of this project was to test a program called Welcome to Parenthood© (W2P©), designed to support vulnerable parents during their transition to parenthood through parenting-based education and a volunteer mentor who received training to help moms navigate community resources and supports.
