Currently an associate professor with the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Liza is a passionate educator who believes that “learning is a transformational process where teachers bring learners from a state of unknowing to knowing.” She stresses that teachers who exude idealized influence are individuals who act as a role model for others and motivated by a commitment to the common good.

Brendan Webster’s contributions to campus wellness — as well as his contributions to occupational health nursing as a whole — have earned him this recognition. In addition to his support on established staff wellness initiatives, Webster and his team are developing new training and awareness programs.

Diane Pyne, MHS, RN is a senior project manager at Corrections Health who was instrumental in developing a new model in health services at the Edmonton Remand and Red Deer Remand Centres.

In her 40 years of nursing, Brenda Hannah, MSc, RN has made a profound impact on the profession as a motivator, mentor and leader. She is an administrator at Clifton Manor, a long-term care facility in Calgary.

Canadian Occupational Health Nurses Conference Promising Performer Award
At the 2019 Canadian Occupational Health Nurses Conference, Amanda Habiak, occupational health nurse and mental health consultant with Staff Wellness, was awarded the Promising Performer Award for her innovative work with psychological safety in the workplace and the Campus Mental Health Strategy.

Dr. Sarah Dewell connects nursing knowledge and genomics to enrich the implementation of genomic health care. She has helped create a knowledge engagement hub which provides needed genomics educational resources within a Canadian healthcare context and exposure to international genomic nursing education, research, and practice.

UCalgary U Make a Difference Award
Brendan Webster is an Occupational Health Nurse with Staff Wellness in Risk. Brendan has made an extraordinary impact on those around him. In addition to his work to establish mass influenza clinics across main campus for students, faculty and staff, he also helped establish these clinics in four other locations across Calgary, including the Foothills Campus, Downtown Campus and Spyhill Campus. His expertise, generosity and friendly nature make a difference to the health and wellbeing of all of us in the UCalgary community.

CNA Order of Merit for Clinical Practice
Stacey Dalgleish is a neonatal nurse practitioner at the Foothills Medical Centre a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Foothills Medical Centre since 1998. Over her lengthy career caring for newborns, she’s driven quality improvements to ensure the best outcomes for her tiny patients.
