Nursing Uniforms and Required Identification
Faculty of Nursing uniforms are required for practice in hospitals, the Clinical Simulation Learning Centre, nursing homes, and a variety of other care centres.
The Faculty of Nursing requires a standard uniform, which is only available through the University of Calgary Bookstore.

Nursing Uniforms
When is my nursing uniform required?
- Term 3 – NURS 289 – uniform NOT required.
- Term 4 – Some students may require a uniform prior to commencement of NURS 389 as mandated by their practice settings.
- Term 5 – NURS 489 – All students must own at least one Faculty of Nursing uniform.
Where do I purchase my nursing uniform?
Faculty of Nursing uniforms are sold exclusively through the University of Calgary Bookstore. A variety of sizes and styles are available allowing students to mix-and-match.
Required Identification
Undergraduate Practice Photo Identification Card
This card must be with you at all times while in the practice area (either worn or available upon request).
Lost cards can be replaced, for a fee, through the Unicard Office.
Name Badge
You are required to wear a name badge in the practice area and the Clinical Simulation Learning Centre.
Lost badges can be replaced, for a fee of $20, through the Undergraduate Programs Office.
Nursing Attire Policy
As University of Calgary representatives and future registered nurses, you're expected to dress appropriately in all practice settings.
Uniforms are required for practice in hospitals, the Clinical Simulation Learning Centre and a variety of other care centres. The Faculty of Nursing requires a standard uniform and specific instructions regarding the uniform will be provided at practice orientation. Where uniforms are not required, specific instructions will be given.
