What is the Nursing Inclusivity Committee (NIC)?
The Nursing Inclusivity Committee (NIC) is a group of nursing students, open to everyone, including allies, male allies that identify as male, BIPOC, and/or LGBTQIA2S+. Established in 2021, the NIC works to create a sense of community by encouraging participation from students across all years of the nursing program who will unite in a desire to promote positive, inclusive change.
The NIC strives to create advocacy initiatives that promote the representation and celebration of culturally diverse and minority populations, both within the nursing profession and beyond. It is our responsibility as future nurses to recognize the value that every person brings to the profession and to create a movement of change for inclusion in healthcare.
As a group, the NIC involves the voices of all members in decisions, planning, and other opportunities for students to promote knowledge and celebrate diversity. Through educational resources, events, and other collaborations with the Undergraduate Nursing Society, the NIC is a driving force in undergraduate inclusivity within the Faculty of Nursing.
