Biography

Carla Ginn is an Associate Professor with research focused on individuals, families, and communities experiencing structural and social vulnerability. Carla's MScN included engaging in participatory action research research with urban First Nations grandmothers exploring meanings of health and health promotion in families and communities. Carla's doctoral research was at CUPS, with families living at less than half the low-income cut-off, and managing addiction, mental illness, and/or social isolation. Carla is currently engaged in community-based, Métis-guided research within the Métis Nation of Alberta, exploring health, spirituality, and wellbeing. Carla is currently involved in collaborative partnerships with more than 30 community agencies in Calgary, facilitating harm reduction services and co-developing long-term solutions surrounding needle debris.
