Friendly competition for a cause
Giving Day is in full swing! While the main event takes place online, some faculties are taking it one step further … and having some fun while they’re at it.
Duel of the Decades
The Faculty of Environmental Design is challenging its alumni and students to see which decade can rally the most support for student experience on Giving Day. Whether you’re a dynamite ’70s, a righteous ’80s, a chilled ’90s or a sweet ’00s, it doesn’t take a large amount to make a difference. The decade with the most contributors toward Giving Day will win bragging rights at all EVDS events in 2018-19!
EVDS students who post on social media about Giving Day will have the chance to win an EVDS shorty sketch pencil.
Are you Team Schulich or Team Haskayne?
Last year, deans Bill Rosehart and Jim Dewald went head-to-head in our student calling centre to see which faculty could bring in the most support toward Giving Day, with the Haskayne School of Business coming out on top. This year, the Schulich School of Engineering wants a rematch (and, so far, they’re in the lead). The winner will be determined by the number of supporters… which team are you on?
What do Locusts, Pigs and Flamingos have in common?
Along with the Poodles, Geoducks, Taphazous, Fulmars and Blobfish, they are among the classes within the Cumming School of Medicine’s animal families that have generously come together to establish a student award on Giving Day to celebrate their bond or to honour fellow classmates. Last year, these classes raised more than $30,000 to support deserving medical students, and this year they’re at it again!
Want to get in on the fun? You don’t have to be an alumni to support any of these great initiatives. Any gift made toward Giving Day, whether it is directed to a faculty, scholarships, transformational learning, or health and wellness, will have a profound impact in the lives of our students and in our community.
