Saddle up and join UCalgary at Stampede 2024

The "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" returns this July along with your favourite events of the year. The University of Calgary is ready to embrace the Stampede spirit with new events and opportunities, on campus and around the city. 

Since 2011, UCalgary has been a proud partner of the Calgary Stampede, hosting and promoting events where the community can engage and interact as they celebrate Alberta’s western heritage.

Ten days filled with dynamite food and cowboy hats await your arrival. Here is how you can get involved this year:

Join President Ed McCauley for our annual Stampede Barbecue

Wrangle up your western wear and join us on Wednesday, July 3, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) Quad to get a jump start on the Stampede festivities. Indulge in a delicious lunch while enjoying line dancing, live music from Alberta country music artist Travis Dolter, and a warm welcome to summer. 

Plan to arrive early as food is only available for the first 1,575 guests and bannock is available to the first 1,100. Register now for a chance to win a Stampede prize pack.

Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Student’s Union Campus Food Bank and make sure to take a photo with Rodeo Rex!

Stampede Parade

Since the Stampede debuted in 1912, the parade has been the official kickoff to all the festivities across the city. On July 5 at 9 a.m., come and cheer on the volunteers marching alongside UCalgary’s out-of-this-world parade float, Space Rex, which won last year’s Best Creative/Innovative Award. 

Evening Show ticket promotion

UCalgary is once again offering the campus community discounted tickets for the Calgary Stampede Evening Show, including the famous Grandstand Show with songs, dance numbers, acrobatics and a spectacular fireworks finale.

You can purchase your tickets on the Calgary Stampede website where students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, volunteers and friends can receive a 20 per cent discount with promo code 2024UOFC on up to 16 tickets per order. The promo code is valid until July 2 for the following dates:
