You can spark change on Giving Day
Brit Paris, Graduate Students' Association
Last year, we set an ambitious goal to raise funds for 50 scholarships in 50 hours for our first-ever Giving Day. Thanks to alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the University of Calgary, we made history by exceeding that ambitious goal, and by the time it was over, we’d raised more than $1 million, through more than 1,300 gifts to fund 170 scholarships, including 120 new student awards.
Giving Day returns on April 26, 2018, and this time, our eyes are set even higher.
This year we’re raising funds to support student experience, through scholarships, transformational learning opportunities, and student wellness and mental health.
“Giving Day is about more than dollars raised, it’s about our UCalgary community coming together to support students, and in turn, recognizing the impact those students go on to have in our community,” says Nuvyn Peters, vice-president of development and alumni engagement. “The support we’ve received has a lasting impact on our students and their potential to become leaders, innovators, caregivers and empowered stewards of our future.”
Students share notes of gratitude for Giving Day support
Students passing through the Taylor Family Digital Library last week had the opportunity to share how philanthropy has impacted their journey.
Watch @UCalgaryAlumni on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to learn more about how philanthropy shapes the student experience.
Make a gift to spark change in our world
By helping students thrive today, we empower them to change the world tomorrow. Making a gift is easy, and can be done entirely online from your smartphone, tablet or computer.
Best of all, you don’t need to wait until the 24-hour event kicks off at 9 a.m. on April 26. In fact, the earlier you make a pledge to support the student experience at UCalgary, the more you can take advantage of a limited amount of matching funds, up to $2,500 per gift, while funds last.
There is no minimum donation amount — gifts of any size make an impact.
Use #UCalgaryGivingDay on social media to share this opportunity with your friends and family.
