Yes, the Nursing Research Office can provide guidance on recruitment materials and strategies for recruiting research participants in a variety of settings. For faculty projects, the Nursing Research Office may be able to help you with recruitment directly.
Pre-approval is required prior to accessing Faculty of Nursing students, faculty, staff, or other resources (e.g. space, bulletin boards) for research purposes. Please contact the Nursing Research Facilitator to initiate your access request.
All University of Calgary faculty, staff, and students have free access to the online survey platform Qualtrics. You can simply log in to Qualtrics using your UofC login and you’re ready to start creating your survey! The Nursing Research Office provides Qualtrics consultation for faculty and students.
There are a variety of digital recorders that you can use for quality recording of interviews and focus groups. The Nursing Research Office recommends Olympus recorders. If you need an audio recorder for a limited time, the Nursing Research Office may be able to lend you one.
If you want to record an interview over a landline telephone you will need an adapter that hooks into the telephone and plugs into your audio recorder.
If you want to record an interview via Skype, there are recording options available for audio and video recording (note that you must follow the procedure described in your approved ethics application).
- If you are a student, you are expected to transcribe your own audio recording as part of your learning.
- If you are a faculty member, you may request access to our list of recommended transcriptionists.
