Reminder: University to close for the day on Dec. 24

A message from Dru Marshall, provost and vice-president (academic)

As December is quickly approaching,  I am sending this note to confirm our annual seasonal closure period. This year we are very pleased to advise that we have decided to provide the full day off on Christmas Eve to all employees and academic staff. Christmas Eve falls on a Monday this year and general operations at the university will be closed. This time off is provided subject to operational requirements and management approval.

Academic staff and employees will not have to use any vacation time on Monday, Dec. 24 and may enjoy an early start to the holiday break.

For those who are scheduled to work and unable to take Monday, Dec. 24 off work, we extend a special thank you for the work you do to support teaching, research, and the university operations. Please connect with your manager to identify a date in 2019 on which to take a paid day off in lieu.

Kindly note that normal operations will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

If you have any questions regarding the University’s 2018-2019 seasonal closure, please speak to your manager or department head.

On behalf of the university, thank you for your many contributions this past year. I hope you and your family have a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

Best,
Dr. Dru Marshall
Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
