IPE for Students
Why is IPE important?
- During your studies and following graduation, you will work within a diverse health-care team to provide patient care. To do this effectively, it is important to learn effective strategies to collaborate with other professions. IPE assists students to clearly identify roles within the health-care team, employ effective communication strategies and build rapport between the various professions.
- Additionally, IPE can help develop or strengthen your experience in clinical, help you practice more independently and assist with connecting theoretical foundations with practice.
- Including IPE in nursing curriculums also benefits patient care as you will have the confidence and knowledge to advocate for the best outcomes for your patient.
What is expected of me?
- Prior to your scheduled IPE event you will receive a guide and event information.
- Once you arrive you will be placed in a small student group with various other learners where you will be given the opportunity to explore the domains of collaborative practice in a meaningful way.
- You will have a facilitator who will guide you through the exercise and assist with debriefing key learning
