Introduction to Simulation Education

Simulation-based nursing education is an increasingly popular pedagogical approach that provides students with opportunities to practice their clinical and decision-making skills through various real-life situational experiences (Kim et al., 2016).

This micro-credential is designed to give you the opportunity to define simulation within the context of healthcare and nursing education in addition to learning about the best practice standards that that inform undergraduate nursing simulation-based learning experiences.

Upon completion of this micro-credential, participants will have the opportunity to:

Define

Accurately define simulation within the context of healthcare and nursing education.

Identify

Identify the 8 best practice standards that inform simulation according to the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards of Best Practice in Simulation.

Register

Register for the Essentials in Clinical Simulation Across the Health Professions course through Coursera.

Complete

Complete the modules week 1 and 2 in the Essentials in Clinical Simulation Across the Health Professions course through Coursera.

Completion Criteria

1. Complete the week 1 Are You a Clinical Simulation Expert? quiz with a minimum pass of 85% within the Essentials in Clinical Simulations Across the Health Professions course through Coursera.
