Introduction to the Faculty of Nursing

In recognition of the need to prepare nurses for an academic role, several studies over the past decade have outlined the significance of understanding the transitional experience of nurses moving into academic teaching roles.

This micro-credential is designed to welcome you to the community working within the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary. Participants have the opportunity to engage with orientation resources and determine how their personal and professional values align with the values, vision, and mission outlined as important to our nursing faculty community at the University of Calgary.

Learning Goals

Upon completion of this micro-credential, participants will have the opportunity to:

Engage with the Faculty of Nursing orientation resources on the Orientation page located on the Teaching & Learning SharePoint site including:

  • Transitioning into an Academic Teaching Role Video
  • Faculty Orientation Video + Faculty Organizational Chart Visual

  • Policy Review

Review the curriculum course map and articulate the location of your assigned teaching course within the context of the curriculum

Reflect

Reflect on the alignment between your core values and the values expressed by the Faculty of Nursing

Completion Criteria

1. Submit a video/audio recorded message or written one paragraph reflection expressing the alignment between your core values and the values expressed by the Faculty of Nursing.
